Fairfield County, Ohio, USA
You mentioned shortly after starting a field. Does that also mean shortly after starting up? I have no experience with EZ Guide, but with our Ag Leader system, if you don't wait for it to "settle down" (acquire a stable GPS lock, with whatever corrections you have available), it'll do exactly that -- jump 10-20 feet away, and sometimes back again. My dad is incredibly impatient and refuses to wait for the satellite indicator to turn green (indicating the position is good), so he has this problem nearly every time he uses it.
