Ron, I feel we benefit by knowing what size the crop is likely to be. I know there are private forecasters but the USDA forecast tends to be more accurate. Without it the traders would have an advantage over the growers.
Also without accurate surveys programs like GRIP insurance and ACRE farm program, would not work.
