ECIL | Learned in the 70s from Univ of IL nutrition class that the improvement in beef efficiency from using Monensin/Rumensin was discovered by researchers doing trials feeding poultry litter mixes in feedlots. They found that the monensin used to control coccidiosis in the poultry carried over in the litter and improved rumen efficiency. If your litter has an ionophore at a high enough level, it might reduce the appetite of the critters for a while if they ate enough. Side benefit may be that it would reduce coccidia issues if there are any. | |
