Subject: killing alfalfa field

near dyersville iowa
no tilled corn into alfalfa field last year. due to drought, corn crop failed. Alfalfa was supposed to be dead, sprayed with chemicals. I chisel plowed it last fall. This spring it seems to have a really nice alfalfa stand. Its going to get field finished next week, weather allowing. Would a finisher with a chopper reel, ie a tillol..do a better job of knocking the alfalfa back? Or a finsiher with just standard sweeps? Or should it get sprayed before tillage? Last year it looked dead..
