The cylinder liners must protrude above the top of the block per Massey's specifications. The block erodes where the liners set and you lose the protrusion. Machining the block is the correct fix. I shimmed my cylinder liners, resurfaced head, used Massey's upgraded head gasket, torqued head to the higher specs, and retorqued after 50 hrs. So far so good but I expect it to blow at anytime. I'd skip anything with this engine.
