NC Kansas
1.5" is the sweet spot I think but I'd rather be 1.75-2" than be less than an 1". I've regretted shallow planting more often than deeper planting. Of course a well timed gentle rain and it doesn't matter. we are using a JD air seeder, keep the blades sharp, plenty of down pressure, good seed tabs (exapta or needham) and Thompson spiked closing wheels and we can get great results at 1.5-2".
