West central IL | This always makes me roll my eyes. Do we know what a “real” drought is compared to western Nebraska? No. But we know what dry is and we know when 280 bu potential has gone down to 220. And somebody from some desert out west like Nevada would tell you that you don’t know what dry is too. It’s all relative.
And you can go back and check, last year I said that the dry weather in May and June in my area was knocking off potential, despite everyone chirping how “good” it is to be dry in that period and then catch the rains later. We caught nice July and August rains, but I still called my crop 10-15% under APH in August and harvest proved that guess perfectly accurate. Oh crap, it’s like I staters know how to farm after all! | |
