Central Indiana
When we spray we definitely try to get a good kill going before trying to take out weeds with tillage. If you spray and wound the plant halfway and then drag a field cultivator shovel through it it never seems to die after that. Now does it cause any issues with residue flow or weed pressure? No but just kinda seems like a waste of time and chemical to only do half the job. When you work the ground just make sure you don’t get the chemical down too deep like humblefarmer said or you risk losing the residual properties in the top inch where most of your weed seed for the upcoming year is going to germinate from. Incorporating chemicals can be done just have to be smart about doing it. If you spray Monday and wait a week to work ground and then get a 2 inch rain you’re going to be screwed. The rain will take that chemical down to the level you worked at quickly and while it will still activate you’re probably losing a lot of the residual efficacy of the product.
