I made a post puller / wire winder. It does make the job easier. Not that anything is easy about barb wire sunk in dirt. You may get 400 feet or 4 feet before it breaks. One thing, the speed of reel needs to change as spool gets bigger. I do that with an A width belt that is loose, just enough to drive.
