NE South Dakota Clark, SD | 200 acres is not even a large field. My general practice for watershed modeling is a full section or larger to see how much and where water is coming from. I just drew a boundary right at 1000 acres and had lidar extracted in 20 seconds at 2 meter resolution and 32 seconds at 1 meter resolution. This is through our online interface. I tried it again for the same 1000 acres using the complete county lidar set locally on my computer and it took a total of 20 seconds to extract both 1 and 2 meter. I don't have SMS Advanced so I cannot compare how fast it could do it and Basic cannot read lidar. I do have a pretty good computer 32 cores @ 2.2 Ghz with 32 Gb RAM, but the software I use is single thread. It did the same thing on a 2010 model Core-Duo with 4 gig of RAM back when that was a new computer, but I am sure it took a little longer. |
