The Farmers Almanac shows the 13th and 14th as good planting days. I don’t plant by it bit I have observed that planting in marginal conditions on days the almanac says are good days results in a successful crop.

A friend of mine once ran his bean planter in March when soil conditions were good to clean out seed still left in it from the year before. Those beans came up and made the highest yielding beans he ever raised. I don’t think he ever tried it again, though. It’s not very often we get soil that dry in March. I thought about that yesterday when it was 72° out and dry enough that a neighbor worked a little bit of ground, but we’re supposed to get 1.5” of rain today and it supposed to turn cold next week.
