31.4 is the latest for non-AFX combines.
changes to the file format (means you may need new desktop software), changes to the screen layouts. If you're used to 3.2, both of them will be brand new. If you had 4.* and go to 4.6, everything will look mostly the same. If you had 4.* and go to 31.*, you'll notice quite a few changes.
