He might be right but pretty sure mine was wrong.

Either mine grew back, or the diet just lowered inflammation enough to get rid of the pain.

I have a hard time believing my cartilage has not regrown.

Also your and my surgeon may be right in that they are assuming whatever caused the original damage is probably ongoing. They probably lay it off to genetics and mechanical damage. If they are not considering diet was part or most of the original damage, from their perspective nothing has or will change.

I think if you are going to see positive results from diet change, you will start to see pain improvements within a few weeks. Of course healing, if even possible, takes much longer. I forget what I heard on turnover rate, but cartilage is one of the slower replacing cells in the body. Those cell types don't turn over very quickly. Compared to blood cells that replace every 3-4 months, cartilage is going to take a lot longer.
