Missouri river bottom south of Sioux City, IA | Hi Curt
TrueGuide actually provides a roll corrected solution for the implement being pulled as it travels through the field. It records the roll from the tractor’s NavII along with its position and then applies that to the implement’s GPS antenna position when it reaches that spot. It uses that along with other data to position the tractor so it keeps the pull-type implement on line. You don’t use two NavII controllers with TrueGuide. Both FMX receivers need to be using the same corrections solution, either it being WAAS, Ominstar or RTK. Check with your dealer on this but Trimble is offering demo kits to add the second antenna and a month unlock for everything on the FMX. That will allow you to monitor implement drift and/or use TureGuide for your own testing. One other note about the one month unlock is it will unlock GLONASS on your FMX so you can monitor how many satellites your tracking using just GPS and GPS + GLONASS. The first receiver will display GPS satellite count and the second will display GPS + GLONASS. Run it in some of your worst areas where the view of the sky is limited because of tree cover or at bottoms of steep valleys where hills block the view. Do it at the time of day when there is a low GPS satellite count and you will see the reasons for using the Russians satellites along with ours.
