EC SD | VTI is fine too, but realize it is market cap weighted and the S&P 500 has 80% of the total stock market in value. Adding the rest won't move the needle on returns over time. VTI normally tracks slightly below the gains of the SP500 index ETFs like VOO.
The bottom 20% of the market is full of junk companies - some never had a dollar of revenue, many never had a dollar of profit. Sure some real gems in there too, but VTI buys a lot of junk to get those gems. If you like smaller companies, best to use a stock screening tool to find the good ones instead of buying thousands of them without filtering. | |
