Central SD | Interest cost to own a bred female is the largest cost in my lifetime on a per head basis. With that said I think open heifers that are worthy of being bred will get crazy high before bull turn out time. Strongly considering letting all my heifers go if that happens. Last time we never bred heifers here was 2006 and that was because of drought. Our govt doesn’t like meat consumption so I expect production taxes coming via carbon debits and mandatory ID.
