It might "work" as in allow the signal to show up in the display. But it's kind of like asking will a spoon "work" to spread butter on bread. It "works" I guess but not ideal. Better tools for the job 


I would not recommend doing much of any vertical accuracy work with any satellite based signal from any brand. 

Vertical work (tile, ditching, leveling, etc) is where base stations and radios near the work site are king.
