KY | I appreciate all the replies. Wound up making it through with being able to keep a couple of broken up pockets of water to spare. There was just enough of a stream below the ice that I could keep a couple thinner spots broken up and the flow would keep them liquid through the day due to the sunshine we were lucky to have. The thaw is on this afternoon, with rain coming to speed it along. Someone recommended freeze misers, stopped by a neighbor's Sat to see how they were making out and mentioned those.. they said "we've got an extra if you want to try it, but all of ours finally froze up last night. We never got below zero, and only in the single digits two nights out of the 6 the hard freeze lasted, I'm not sure how folks are using them where it actually gets cold regularly. They seem to work fine for extended 20+ degree temps, but below that, they don't seem to be the ticket. |
