I have used a Norelco for about 20 years and it works fine. No nicks and no bleeding, but it does not cut as close as a blade. You need to install new blades after a couple of years, depending on the toughness of your whiskers. I used the Norelco since I started taking blood thinners, which makes razor nicks a bigger problem.
If you let the stubble get too long the Norelco will struggle. My current shaver has a clipper head that snaps on to trim beards and other longer hair.
