Subject: Hedge apples

NW Iowa
How many of you guys believe a hedge apple placed in the corner of the room will keep spiders away? My wife believes in this. I don’t have an opinion. We don’t have hedge apples in northwest Iowa or at least I have never seen them. When we make a fall visit to our granddaughter who lives by Mulvane Kansas we stop along the rural road leading to our granddaughter’s acreage to pick up hedge apples for my wife’s yearly supply. We picked up a few this morning though it is getting a little late to find good green ones. So will our house be spider free for the next year? This road has the mother lode of hedge apples laying alongside the road and we are the only ones to pick up a few so there must not be any demand in this area?
