Subject: Sunflowers and strawberries in N. Cal.

Western CO
We were driving through the Watsonville area yesterday on our way to Monterrey and saw some strawberry fields with sunflowers planted along the irrigation ditches at the ends of the fields. Anybody know why they do this?? I lived in S. Cal for a while and never saw that down there. Was thinking maybe insects or something? It looked like they kind of just tossed the sunflower seed out there -- not evenly spaced or anything.
