Rolla, ND | Well, sounds like you have a nitrogen problem, as in excess, in those areas. Management would likely be autosteer and zone sampling with variable nitrogen application.
The tendency to tiller of a variety isn't going to have much to do with the whole thing in your situation. Straw strength between what you are growing doesn't vary much, Faller might be a bit better.
Basic problem is one gives up things like scab susceptibility to go to really strong straw.
Kelby would probably stand better without giving up scab resistance, doubt if it would completely fix the lodging, it's not that much stronger.
Otherwise you are going to have to manage your nitrogen. | |
