NEVER (I know, "never say never") start out with computer advice saying "it's been several years since I looked at one" The computer industry changes so quickly that if you haven't looked in 6 months you are totally out of the loop. I believe (and I am FAR from an expert, this is just my opinion) that unless you start getting into higher end machines everyone is that way.
I know what you are saying Mike, and probably should have worded it better. My point was that they used proprietary hardware, for more than the video board....but that they may have changed since I looked at it.
Given that computers DO change so quickly, I couldn't see the practicality of having one with hardware that could not be easily upgraded if needed.
