Nw IA | I worked for an ai stud breeding at some sizable dairies, for a number of years. I would say its not uncommon for a pregnant cow to show signs of heat. On one occasion i witnessed a bull in a pregnant pen breeding a cow that was supposed to be 210 days pregnant, so i got her in and sleeved her, sure enough she was still pregnant. Cows can be pregnant on one side of the uterus and still cycle on the other. One time a cow got bred. 21 days later she was showing signs of heat, and got ai'd again to a different bull. 9 months later she calved a nice holstein heifer. 21 days later she had another heifer calf in the fresh pen. They then dna tested those heifer calves and they were each out of different bulls. | |
