Subject: RE: Grain cart - camera location

Chebanse, IL.....

Well, first of all, we've not had the greatest luck w/the wireLESS cameras on something like a cart....but read on. Wireless can also cause problems w/gps....takes some experimentation.

We went to the wired type & had much better pictures, especially on a cart. Our wired type is the CabCam.

We put one on the back of the cart (Brent 1084 Avalanche) for road travel. The other is positioned high on the side of the cart slightly behind the unload auger to view truck/wagon loading.

However, we do put 1 wireless camera on the combine grain tank that looks out to the end of the unload auger. The receiver is in the grain cart tractor. The cart driver then loads himself when he drives alongside the combine. No need for the combine guy to give his full attention to the cart. That way we're better able to load the cart from front to rear (the Avalanche is a longer cart). In this situation the wireless cam works great. When trying to go THROUGH steel (like the cart itself), then the wireless sometimes gives disappointing video, depending on atmospheric conditions.

That's our experience anyway.
