Subject: RE: What works the best for fall tillage......

Mid Michigan
My neighbor had a field of corn stubble he wanted to plant this year after a very hard winter. Lots of flooding. Field was pretty wet and kind of a mess. He waited until it dried up and set a match to the whole thing and burned the entire field. Left the most perfect flat black seedbed I've ever seen. Not one stalk was left out there. The ground looked very black and mellow. He drilled in beans after that and he has some of the best beans in the area. Didn't even have a weed in there and I'm sure it did a number on all the bugs and mice too. It worked so good he did a couple of other fields too. So if you live in a place where the geography allows it (as in not to burn the entire county down) I would try it in a heartbeat.
