That's the cheapest. You could always pull down one or two main brg caps and look at the lower half of the main brgs to give you and idea what wear they have on them. Don't forget to remove the piston spray jet before you remove the #1 piston and connecting rod. This way it won't get damage or bent. [If you tap it slightly upward and don't know it, then the piston will knock it off during running and score the piston and cylinder wall. It needs to have .026" worth of clearance between spray tube and lower notch in the piston.] We use a piano wire of that thickness to check our clearances during an overhaul. You just have to rotate the crankshaft to get to where you can get a long extension/socket on its bolt that holds in up to the main oil gallery(for the piston cooling/spray jet). I see you have the BIG and heavy 4 cylinder air compressor on that engine. Note: There is always a little water/coolant that doesn't drain out, so when you pull the first of any of the six liners, a quart to half gallon will probably drop out once those 3 lower liner bands clear its lower bore. Bottom line is that if you try and push the liner up from the bottom with a bottle jack or something, be ready for a "coolant shower". Once you remove the external steel fuel injection lines, cover the fuel injection pump with a clean towel so debris doesn't get inside. Note: external fuel lines 1 & 2 will come off as a unit, and 3,4,5, and 6 fuel lines will come off as a unit. You don't have to remove all those little clamps. I suggest you remove the big air compressor, too. Don't forget there are two 1/2" bolts at the very front of the cylinder head that hold on the a/c mount that must be removed(by the fan drive). If you choose not to pull the injection nozzles out of the cylinder head for this repair, DO NOT buff the tips or wire brush those nozzle tips while cleaning the "bottom deck" of the cylinder head. Common practice is to run a thread tap down every head bolt hole and vacuum out any debris also.
