Subject: RE: GVWR and what it means

central - east central Minnesota -

bushton4 - 7/24/2009 21:40 I bought a 38' Vantage end dump that got dumped sideways back in the spring for little to nothing. Was planning on using the axles, tires, and rims to put under a new 40' grain trailer. Got to looking at the project today to get the axle unit cut out from under the trailer and happened to look at the S/N plate and found that the GVWR of the the trailer was for 68,000. Does this mean that the axles are smaller or weaker or is it the tag for structural integrity limit? It is an air ride axle set up, if that makes a difference.

What does it mean on the tag "GAWR" 20,000 lb? If GAWR mean gross axle weight rating - those could be configured pretty lightly?
