Denmark | Hello Neil.
My flight instructor way back was a cropsprayer too.
He told me that the kind of spraying being dangerous was, what he did during our winter when he went to Sudan to spray cotton fields. Those fields were big without obstacles of any kind and pilots could easily relax a little too much and that is dangerous when being close to the ground. He lost workmates due to this over the years.
Spraying small fields in DK with houses, trees and power lines everywhere kept a pilot on the alert and accidents very seldom happened.
That is what he told me anyway. No aerial application here anymore as pesticides have not been allowed to be applied from the air for many years.
