Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
We plant about 500 acres of direct seed broccoli in Virginia. We have about 130 in the ground now. We water it up, if you aren't irrigating, it might be a tough go. We deal with Stokes Seed company, but most of the varieties are Sakata genetics. Our favorite is Green Magic. Emerald Crown, Windsor, Diplomat, and Iron Man are a few to look at. We have had all these varieties in each state from Virginia to Florida, they act a little different in different places, but Green Magic is pretty consistantly good. I doubt the Dual will affect your plantback. We plant broccoli in July behind Sweet corn that had Dual in April. We plant 36 inch rows with about 4" in row spacing. Use 1.5 pints of Treflan. Broccoli does best if it's on the edge of muddy it's whole life. It uses nitrogen heavier than corn. Fertilize it like you would 200+ bushel corn. Foliar boron is good when the plant gets some size.
