| the last tillage of the the no-till strips was in August 2008 prior to planting the rye... photos showing the sequence of soil/crop conditions from last fall to now are archived in the following web album: http://picasaweb.google.com/joelandlisa/Tillagesystemexperiment#
the whole field will probably be planted to wheat this fall after bean harvest... we no-till drilled all of our wheat last fall but will probably do some shallow tillage prior to drilling wheat *in this field* this fall to eliminate volunteer rye and perennial weeds.
here is a link to a previous discussion of this experiment on NAT which contains some details about the treatments: http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=103958&mid=735...

BTW As commented by Matt H, the no-till beans are paler in color... they got off to a slow start and did not emerge well in some places but appear to be growing pretty well now. | |
