if NH went to so much trouble to replicate an 8N why in the thunder did they use *01 series red orange paint on the dang thing instead of 8N red?


Actually, it is even worse than using the wrong colors. They came up with two new paint part numbers altogether. So more inventory is required every step of the way. The red is closer to the shade used on NH hay equipment, but not exactly.

My understanding is Ford Motor Company still has their fingers on several paint colors, including the original Ford blue (1965) and the 8N red. And NH either couldn't, or wouldn't license the proper shades.
