Years ago I planted with a 85hp tractor pulling a JD 7000 4 row planter. Seemed like overkill.
The injector pump went out on the tractor, my next several tractors were old gas tractors with poor or well worn hyd pumps and couldn’t lift the planter.
So I ended up finishing planting with a 27 hp compact tractor pulling the same planter. Actually worked well, but was a pretty drastic change

I used my Allis 7040 on my 4 row 7000. Didn't have smaller tractors, 85 hp still overkill but at least somewhat matched lol. |
