I have recently purchased a new computer and I'm finding out that Windows easy transfer no longer exists. What is the best way to transfer my old computer contents to my new one?
It’s still there, but it is geared towards IT professionals now and not home users. It is called the user state migration tool.
It is better to copy your files onto a flash drive/external drive and reinstall apps on the new computer. USMT is really now a last ditch for computers that really need to replicate the existing environment. It is usually easier to clone the drive and just deal with fixing drivers after the fact. |
