When we had sliding doors, on the bottom of them they had channel iron on the bottom with a groove in the middle. In the center of the door opening cemented in the apron was a square piece of flat metal that the doors slid onto holding them in place and a lever on a spring about chest level. We've since replaced the sliders with an overhead door.
