Subject: RE: Quonset building

northeastern Ohio
I have two quonsets I built 15-20 years ago: 45x40 with the big concrete blocks and a 55x80 mounted on a flat slab.

The concrete blocks cost $25 each and I think it took 20 of them: $500

The flat slab cost more than the building, but is a lot nicer.

The first 3 rings are the most difficult. Once you get 3 up, you can put a guy on top of them to help line up the rest. We used silage wagons for scaffolding underneath to stand on. Its a lot of work, but if you have the labor,,,,

With all that said, I wouldn't build another one. You lose a lot of space along the walls. Can't really economically insulate it. Don't buy their sliders as they are junk.

Pour a wall and build a regular building on top of it. Here is a video of the last barn we built (you can see the quonset in the background): https://www.facebook.com/100030914002259/videos/539202327213028/
