Subject: RE: Calcium source

Northville, SD
The reason I am talking about Ca base saturation is we have tight soils-high base saturations of Mg. My thoughts are if I increase base saturation of Ca the Mg levels will go down.
We also have high levels of K 250-450 ppm, but base saturations of K could be improved. I am not aware of anyone in my area applying K. All look at the levels and thinking we don't need K. However, I have been applying K in limited areas and it has shown a positive yield response.
Also, we have low pH-5.5-6.0 and have raised pH to 6.2 to 7.0 and that has made an improvement.
I have read that soybeans love Ca.

Hope I haven't come across as having a low level of intelligence level (but my wife often thinks so). I'll take all of the advice I can get.
