Anyone use there home internet to make regular phone calls? If so what do you use for a service or how do you go about it that is fairly simple to use? Looking for it as a backup or emergency when someone home with no phone available but we have very fast internet.
I did at office for years, VOIP is a name that it is called IIRC. Reason I switched was cost for old Ma Bell. Had 4 phone lines, 800 number, fax (virtual), another virtual number (phone number from 50 miles away where I had a satellite office), hooked up to 7 phones. Reduced my phone bill by 5/6's.
Nice thing about VOIP phone is they work anywhere that you can plug into a Cat 5 internet connection (they do make a wireless adapter but didn't work well in my opinion). During Covid shutdown, I brough an office phone home and plugged into my home internet router. Clients didn't know I wasn't in the office (my partner was there by herself, isolated)
You can get all kinds of features and there is a lot of providers. Might cost you $25 - $30 a month (including long distance). Now, you got me thinking, why don't I get rid of my landline and replace it VOIP and cut my cost in half. Hummm |
