Try creating a new thread then try to delete it.
What can cause a double post really easily is using a phone that has a sensative screen. It double "clicks" without noticing it. The forum software has an internal check to keep you from posting many times in a row, called "flood control". But somehow on a phone the double post will happen before the forum software can catch it.
At least that has been my surmise of how things work based on my experience. I could be wrong.
