If the Tapps is superior to 10-34-0, why not manufacture it at the same time they are making the 10-34-0.

They did actually, here is a little history from Guy Swanson the Yielder/Exactrix guru:
"in the 60's and early 70's in western Nebraska according to Larry Murphy.

The crystals would cut out the seals in the pumps....and tremendous metering problems.....and farmers really liked the material.....good crops.

The product was low analysis....single liquid blend....evidently lots of promise but very difficult to apply and store.

The development in the PNW....comes from Aqua Ammonia and APP/ATS in the late 60"s using two delivery systems.....Aqua Ammonia delivered more uniformly and allowed mixing.....NH3 could not be made to work.....so delivery was much different due to freezing lines and lack of uniformity. Thus dual placement with NH3 but no TAPPS...since the two materials had to be separated.

The big move to TAPPS was the Yielder Drill....and the discovery of how to mix the NH3 and APP/ATS materials with Offset Leading Double Disc Openers.

The next big breakthrough was Exactrix liquid injection.

Took almost 45 to 50 years to get to 2010 and now we have it figured out....and so goes the story....NH3 is now a liquid application....which opens up the 40% improvement in efficiency and unique opener designs. "

All of which make the phosphate less available to the crop.

One of the most desirable aspects of TAPPS, %100 P availability since its tied up with the N & S, not the calcium, therefore you can use less P.
