Because the fertilizer salesman told me I'd rape my ground if I don't buy from him. I'm not a rapist, so I wrote a big check.
My neighbors don't understand net profit, law of diminishing returns or return to variable expense, but they do respond to yield. And as long as I have a new Deere or Ford in the driveway they know I'm rich.
At $920/ ton for MAP why trade bushels for fertlizer?
