Illinois Heartland | I’ll vouch for Sarasota! I was with Grandpa when he bought a house there in 1981 after he travelled all over the state looking for the perfect spot. It was their winter home, so we got to use it all summer long when we were kids. When he passed, my dad bought it from the estate and we continued to vacation there with my kids.
Tons of stuff to do there. Grandpa picked Sarasota because of Lido and Siesta beach being within a few minutes where he lived. Perfect sugar fine white sand that they keep clean and tons of shells to find.
St Armonds, Marina Jack, Ringlings home, circus museum, Mote Marine, kayaking adventures are just a few of the many things to do. A short trip south to Venice Beach and you can sift in the water for sharks teeth.
Dad sold the house a few years ago so we haven’t been back since but are planning to maybe later this summer. | |
