Laptop doesnt recodnize batery

Subject: Laptop doesnt recodnize batery


My Dell Laptop says that it doesnt recognize my battery. Could this be because I allowed the charge on it to run completly out? This is the original battery and it worked good before i allowed it to run completly out. This is a Dell 1501 laptop
