Lift pump is normally BEFORE a real fuel filter that’s designed to get out all the fine particles.
However it’s common to have a fine screen strainer before the lift pump to protect it from debris. Sometimes this is a screen on inlet inside tank, sometimes a sediment bowl with a strainer inside or an in-line “filter”, but there’s usually one somewhere.
