Southern MN | Long time until we get to that point but in our operation we have been putting on excess fertilizer (at least according to our agronomist) for a long time. Personally am thinking it may be time to take a little out of the P&K bank. N would hate to cut more than 10-15% at best, could probably side dress more later if prices and crop condition warrant in 23. In reality much of the decision is going to come down to the price of inputs and how bad the tax bill is. High priced fertilizer gets cheaper if Uncle Sam and state is going to get 30-40% anyway. Probably my biggest fear is the old cliché that this time is different, and I am afraid it may be. With the world situation I don’t know if we are going to see cheaper fert for a number of years, and it’s price May decouple more from the price of corn than we are use to. | |
