West Texas | I just bought another HP laptop for my youngest to take to college. (he actually paid for it, I picked it out for him)
I have had very good luck with HP and have two of them with 17" screens on them. Love them. Like it much better then the 15" screen one my oldest has. 17" carrying cases are easy to find. No problem there.
The latest one is an HP Mobile Work station. Original price was $2600, got it for $899 at TigerDirect. Very fast and efficient. Came with XP pro.
