Charleston, SC | Good morning, everyone. I’m going to try planting sesame for the first time this year (if we ever get rain), and I have some questions. I’ve read everything I can find on the subject, including the Sesaco growers guide.
I have a JD 7100 set at 30” rows and Great Plains 706NT at 7.5” rows. My plan is to use the drill since I only have corn meters for the planter. I’m going to block off rows in the drill so that they are on 22” spacing.
Anyone have a rough idea of what settings to use? Great Plains never got back to me when I asked them. Or what’s a similar size seed I could look up as a starting point? I was thinking Bahia grass or brown top millet.
Calibrating the drill - since only every third row will be dropping seed, do I calibrate the drill to plant 18 lbs an acre if I’m shooting for 6 lbs per acre in reality?
Finally, I think it’s safe to spray Dual pre and clethodim post. Anyone have a rate for the Dual?
Thanks for any help y’all can give. | |
