Please join us for the Cover Crop Variety Showcase!
When: May 18th from 9-11AM
Where: USDA-ARS Dairy Forage Research Center Farm in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin
What: The Cover Crop Breeding Network has selected hairy vetch, winter pea, crimson clover, and cereal rye for improved cover crop performance since 2015. New breeding lines exceed all commercially available varieties for biomass, seed yield, winter survival, and fall vigor across the United States. Attendees will have the opportunity to rate dozens of new breeding lines and provide feedback on which lines to release this year. The event will also include a hairy vetch breeding nursery selected for soft seed and low shatter. In conclusion, the group will tour a winter cover crop species trial to assess feasibility for the northern Midwest.
