Don't really need a heat pump style as upstairs is always warm enough, just need A/C as unit in basement struggles to push much cool air to second floor. Mount compressor on east end and then come up gable end with refrigerant lines.Cape Cod style home ,so thinking putting a unit in master bedroom lines straight up with upstairs hallways as literature says they will blow 40'.
Any advice/thoughts to ask HVAC guy when he shows up ? Any idea on ball park prices? tia

How many square feet? What’s the insulation like? If you can figure out the ton capacity you need, you can buy do-it-yourself mini splits for as low as $1000 for 12,000 btu. They come precharged. Just mount the units, drill thru the wall, hook up the lines and it’s ready to go.
Check out Pioneer mini splits at Home Depot.
