| I think from talking to neighbors around me that most are still sitting on their hands when it comes to new crop marketing. It seems like the last three months it just keeps going up. I know from historical charts June is a good time for booking new crop. I think a lot of guys are just waiting to see where this thing ends up.
For example, my thought was $6.50 to $7.00 for new crop corn is a darn good price. It blew past that a while ago. At $7.45 December corn and the fact that June is still 2 months away my strategy is to see where we end up. We drop back down to 6.75 a $7 Dec i will probably start booking some. For now I am content to see where we go and wait it out a little longer. I sold to early last year on soybeans so i am trying not to repeat that mistake.
One or two weather hiccups (real or perceived) and we are looking at the potential for $8 December. | |
